Three States of Matter

What's matter?

Matter is made up of atoms and molecules. Millions of these tiny objects fit together to form everything-like animals, vehicle, vegetables almost everything.

Three Phases of Matter

Matter usually exists in one of three states or phases: solid, liquid, or gas. Matter includes the water (liquid) you drink, the air (gas) you breathe, and the chair (solid) you are sitting on.

...

Like mentioned earlier, the matter is made up of atoms and molecules, but these atoms and molecules don't change. But the way these atoms and molecules move that keeps changing.

Water, for example, is always made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. However, it can take the state of liquid, solid (ice), and gas (steam). This happens because change in the movement of the atom’s particles with-in water. This change happens either when energy is added or if energy goes out.

In this animated video, kids can very clearly see and understand these changes in the movement of atoms resulting into the changes in states of matter.

All different phases of matter have been explained in very simple language and with lot of real-life examples.
